Just a few weeks before moving to San Francisco from the east coast, Max & Kara flew in for a visit over the long Fourth of July weekend. Little did she know that he had a Golden Gate Bridge surprise engagement all planned out for her, complete with champagne on the beach… just in time to make San Francisco their special place before their move! Kara was so excited she could hardly contain her jubilation, and Max was just relieved to have the weight of the surprise and anticipation finally off his shoulders, haha. Jayme is very much a planner — in fact, we were in touch more than a month before her proposal to talk about locations and ideas, and after deciding on the ideal spot, she even scouted it out just to make sure it was the perfect place. We waited a loooong time to get the perfect sunset for Nicole & Amir’s Sutro Baths engagement photos, and here we have it! I get so excited when I’m photographing a couple who is super in love — you can see it in their eyes — and I think it shows in the photos too. Towards the end, they climbed down to one of the rocks down in the ruins and we got one of my favorite photos of the set… or maybe ever. [ read more … ]

Michael and Sam brought along their dog Goose for their engagement shoot. He’s super cute (I couldn’t stop kneading the rolls on his neck…) and was so happy to get out and go on a hike with his parents! You can also tell in a lot of these photos that he’s the one running the show, haha. We were able to fit a lot of variety into two hours: starting from Slackers Hill for a great view of San Francisco and the sunny sky, then heading over to the Marin Headlands and ending at Rodeo Beach for sunset. Nate & Katie had quite the memorable engagement — they got engaged last fall, right on that day when the Bay Area skies turned apocalyptic orange due to the fires. Though that wasn’t Nate’s original plan, it certainly made for a very memorable day! Now, almost exactly half a pandemic later (we’ve started using that as a unit of time…) the four of us met up in Pescadero for their engagement photos at Pigeon Point Lighthouse. [ read more … ]
