Black Sands Beach is a serene, peaceful beach nestled at the base of the Marin Headlands just north of San Francisco. Despite its beautiful, fine sandy composition, its perfect position right at the inlet to the San Francisco Bay, and its great view of both the city and of nature, this beach is one of the quietest in the Bay Area. Slackers Hill is the tallest hill in the Marin Headlands facing the Golden Gate Bridge from the north, and consequently has an absolutely spectacular view of the entire area, including nearly the entire city of San Francisco, along with the Bay Bridge, Oakland, and parts of Sausalito. Its peak (elevation ~930 feet) has a small, flat plateau featuring amazing sights in every direction.

This is a place I’ve personally always wanted to visit, so even though I was supposed to be taking a break from work this December, when Jordan contacted me to capture his surprise engagement proposal there I knew I had to make it work. [ read more … ]

Brandon and Kara chose the most amazing day to visit San Francisco. After hitting all the usual spots during the day, they wrapped up in the evening with a short hike up to Battery Spencer, at the edge of the Marin Headlands with its beautiful view overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge and the City of San Francisco. Viral had a romantic evening planned for Shital while she was in town visiting him for the long weekend — a quick sightseeing trip up to Battery Spencer to take a few selfies overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, followed by a nice dinner in Sausalito. Of course, as you can see below, a few selfies turned into a lot more when he got down on one knee and surprised his girlfriend with a romantic proposal with this stunning view of the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco Bay, and the city in the background! We recently had the pleasure to work with Jizhe and Jin for their pre-wedding photos. We started off at Stanford University, where Jin goes to school, and a few of their friends even came to keep them company and cheer them on. Then we headed to San Francisco to shoot at both ends of the Golden Gate Bridge, at Crissy Field, Cavallo Point, and the Marin Headlands. Although these spots were packed with crowds of people that weekend, there was nothing some strategic shooting and editing couldn’t fix 🙂 We got a ton of great photos!
