Black Sands Beach is a serene, peaceful beach nestled at the base of the Marin Headlands just north of San Francisco. Despite its beautiful, fine sandy composition, its perfect position right at the inlet to the San Francisco Bay, and its great view of both the city and of nature, this beach is one of the quietest in the Bay Area. For their anniversary last month, Jenny and Rob planned a “babymoon” trip to San Francisco. While they were in town, we met at Baker Beach for a sunset photo session for them. J&J’s engagement session was a dream! I still can hardly believe how magical the day was. When I woke up that morning, the fog was so incredibly thick that I actually called to see if they wanted to reschedule, and they decided to go through with it anyway. When we arrived at Baker Beach, we were greeted by one of the clearest, most beautiful skies of the season! For the next couple of hours, we covered some picturesque spots around San Francisco and had a lot of fun in the process. I really loved their props, especially the cheerful sun and cloud balloons, and am overjoyed with how great they look in these photos. Take a look below!

This sweet couple flew all the way from their home in Calgary to San Francisco — where they had their first date four years ago. We had gotten so used to seeing the summer fog, and the especially-thick cover earlier that week, that when we arrived at Baker Beach to capture I&J’s proposal, the sight of the Golden Gate Bridge actually felt strange. It was as if the bridge was painted or didn’t belong there. And the sunset that night was nothing short of amazing, with its golden glow accentuating the color of the bridge. [ read more … ]

In between all our late-summer weddings and surprise proposals, we had the pleasure of hanging out with Renate and Keith’s family at the beautiful Montara State Beach. Back in the spring, we had donated a family photo session to the Ocean Shore School here in Pacifica for their fundraising auction, and this sweet family won our photo session.
