Despite all that 2020 has brought us, this year still has its bright spots. Amy is expecting in the next few weeks (yay!), and we went out for a maternity photo shoot to memorialize the joy and anticipation of her pregnancy journey. Since she and her husband are leaving San Francisco, we chose to take her maternity photos at Baker Beach, right in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. This was a maternity and family session mixed into one, made extra fun by little Benji 🙂

Martin’s Beach is a hidden gem of Half Moon Bay with an interesting story (see Wikipedia). Past its very unassuming entrance is a quiet beach with calm waves, coastal cliffs, and an absolutely perfect ocean sunset view. It’s a spot that Ozzy and Ashley had stumbled upon and shared memories together in the past, and it’s where he chose to ask for her hand in marriage. This was a very exciting moment to witness, and I love the energy jumping out of their photos 🙂 As they say, “never turn your back on the ocean” — you might just get a surprise if you do!

Bajis and Michelle’s wedding was a perfect day — elegantly styled, warmly personal, and thoughtfully socially-distanced. Even in hindsight, it’s almost unbelievable that this whole event was put together in a month and a half, after their first two venues and plans didn’t work out due to the pandemic. In addition to the family & friends who attended in person, a wider audience joined in on Zoom to celebrate together virtually. All in all, while on its surface it had the hallmarks of a 2020 wedding, at its core, Michelle and Bajis’s intimate wedding at The Club at Ruby Hill was a most timeless celebration of love and union. Long-distance relationships are hard (we would know!)… and certainly even more of a challenge in COVID times. So we have a ton of respect and admiration for those couples with the strength and dedication to make it work. Last weekend, R’s girlfriend was going to be in town for just a couple of days, and he had a beautiful surprise proposal planned out way in advance at this San Francisco lookout. Blair and Fernando are a bit like us a few years ago — in a cross-border long distance relationship between the US and Canada.
