When Tim first contacted me I knew this surprise proposal was going to be one of a kind! He originally set the proposal at the beautiful Auberge Du Soleil restaurant but unfortunately the venue has a policy that doesn’t allow professional photography. After some research, Tim found Viader Vineyards and Winery — a hidden Napa gem with breathtaking views overlooking the Valley. And thanks to the super accommodating staff there, they made sure things went as smoothly as possible. Rudy and Sophie’s story goes back several years to before Rudy was a student at Stanford. When Annie and I met Rudy a couple days before he proposed, he described Sophie as the special one who helped drive his current ambitions and gave him the motivation to pursue graduate studies at Stanford, so it was only appropriate that he proposed to her on campus. On the morning of the big day, he came by to drop off some roses and champagne with us, and we brought those to Stanford Memorial Church along with speakers to play his special request — Endless Love by Lionel Ritchie & Diana Ross. Jaspal contacted me a couple weeks back and had everything planned out — on a nice Saturday morning, he and his girlfriend Sabrina would drive out from the California Central Valley all the way to Garrapata State Beach (a bit south of Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey), then he’d propose on rocky cliff overlooking this beautiful beach where they had been a few times before. We are so lucky!! We’ve been fortunate enough to photograph a lot of Canadian couples recently 🙂 Love seeing our fellow Canadians here in the States! Ryan and Kelsi came down from Toronto for a California coast road trip from Los Angeles along the Pacific Coast Highway, with their final stop in San Francisco. Ryan had been planning to ask the big question for a while now and I’m sure he had a hard time holding it all in throughout their trip! I can still remember how shaky Kelsi’s voice was as it was a complete surprise for her. I know you guys enjoyed your trip, and congratulations again!!
