Treasure Island has always been one of my favorite places for photos, yet it’s often underappreciated and overlooked. It offers a beautiful view of both the San Francisco city skyline and the Bay Bridge, and the sunset colors are just amazing. Anoushka & Chris are getting married next year in Greece (what a dream!), and to capture some flavor from their home city of San Francisco, they decided to take a set of Treasure Island engagement photos. Sindy & Gabe wanted some night-time Embarcadero pier engagement photos, so we scheduled their session right through the sunset so we could be there after nightfall. I loved their interactions with each other – so warm and intimate, and such a joy to photograph. As the colorful dusk sky faded and the San Francisco cityscape started twinkling with lights, we walked down the pier for a couple of really special night photos, and I’m excited to share some of them with you!

Lauren & Jeff did a loooooot of homework before our engagement session. (Okay, it was mostly Lauren.) She had looked through a lot of our past engagement shoots and had her eye on some Sutro Baths shots, especially those beautiful reflections that can be seen in the still pools of water. Dennis & Christine met seven years ago, and their story quickly grew together. Once they knew they had each found the one, Dennis asked Christine’s parents for their blessing, then waited patiently until he had just the right opportunity. (Perhaps it’s more correct to say that Christine waited very patiently for Dennis to finally find that opportunity.) In the end, it’s hard to imagine a more perfect proposal than where he ended up popping the question three years later: on a hike, overlooking the Banff ice fields, at sunset. That’s top-of-bucket-list material for photographers like us!

Back home in California, for their engagement session, we started at the Legion of Honor, and then made the quick drive over to Sutro Baths to catch sunset on the beach. [ read more … ]
