Jaspal’s Surprise Proposal to Sabrina at Garrapata State Beach | Carmel Photographer

Jaspal contacted me a couple weeks back and had everything planned out — on a nice Saturday morning, he and his girlfriend Sabrina would drive out from the California Central Valley all the way to Garrapata State Beach (a bit south of Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey), then he’d propose on rocky cliff overlooking this beautiful beach where they had been a few times before. After that, they’d continue on for a late romantic lunch.

Even though it was an unmarked area without any cellphone signal, when we arrived, Jaspal’s directions easily took us to the trail. Since we arrived early, Annie and I took a walk and experimented with light and scenery along various points of the trail, and we picked out a nice, empty spot. It was really windy that day (I like to think of the weather as adding character to the photos 🙂 ), so Annie & I headed back to our car to wait. When the couple showed up, I saw Jaspal outside of his car and he seemed to be tying his shoe… only later did we realize that he was probably busy hiding the ring box in his socks while Sabrina wasn’t looking. Crafty!
